Matthew Hart, age 38, of Wareham, was caught driving south on the northbound side of the highway when he almost hit a police cruiser that was working a construction detail, New Hampshire State Police said. This happened around 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12.
Hart then randomly stopped in the middle of I-89 and was subsequently arrested for DWI and felony reckless conduct with a motor vehicle, police said. His passenger, Anna Mattin, age 39, of Va., was also taken into custody "due to her impairment level," according to police.
The incident shut down the left lane of the highway for a short time per the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Samuel Provenza at (603) 223-6162 or at Samuel.P.Provenza@dos.nh.gov.
